It doesn’t appear to be compatible with El Capitan. I’ve sent support a request and will update the review once they respond. This is disappointing as I rely on this hourly and I’ve really liked the program. Update: No response from the authors of the program. Not sure if this means the program is now unsupported or what. Update: the authors of the program responded and confirmed that due to the sandboxing requirements, the appstore version would not work with El Capitan. If you want to use atext with El Capitan, we will need to switch to the non-sandboxed version on the author’s website.

I absolutely love this app. It saves me a ton of time. However, after updating to El Capitan, it has stopped working for me. Update the app!!! Only giving it 4 stars right now cause it hasn’t been updated.

I really hope the developer is working on an update (the most recent one was April 2015) because it doesnt appear to be working with El Capitan. Totally bummed out, because this is one of my favorite apps. Its so useful. Im not quite sure what Im going to do in the mean time.

It was working wonderfully until I updated my operating system to El Capitan. Now, nothing.

It was an awesome app until el capitan update, nothing worked anymore. The developer provided a non-Mac-App-Store(MAS) version of aText for free to fix this problem, now it works like charm. Unfortunately, for MAS aText, the issue came with el capitan update cannot be fixed, according to the developer, so I would guess that MAS aText won’t have updates in the future.

Like other’s, I cannot use since the El Capitan update. I have aText 2.17 and there is supposedly a newer version (2.18), however I have looked and could find no way to update it: no option to update within the apps menues; no way to update from within the app store; no way to download update from the website.

This was a nice, simple application that I used several times daily for month and months. However, after updating the Mac to El Capitan, aText no longer works.

Needs an update, please!

Its prone to crashing. It happens almost every day, on two different computers. Fix that and Im a 5-star fan. Update: no updates for the crashing problem. No update for El Capitan. Starting to not love this app as much as I used to. Please update it.

Loved this app. Use it all day long. It hasn’t worked since the OS X update, though. C’mon! Update it!

When this app works, it is amazing. But almost anytime I copy and paste something and then try to use it, it just spits out whatever was in the clipboard. It is horribly annoying to have to click on the app and go back. It almost makes it not worth it. I haven’t seen any sign that the developers are working on an update to fix this. I’d say hold off on purchasing this until they resolve this issue.

When I was on Mavericks I loved this app because it makes typing so quick and easy however I cannot use thiis app ever since El Capitan came out. Common guys! El Capitan was released several weeks ago and you still haven’t updated. Due to compatability issue I am giving you 4 star.

How is this still on the App store if it doesn’t have El Capitan support?

I bought this thinking it would help with productivity. I have spent more time working on it than it is worth! There is a version on the aText site that works but I bought mine from the Apple Store. Per the aText recommendation I uninstalled the Apple Store version (since it doesn’t work) and installed from their web site. It works, but now I’m getting the trial has expired, really? It’s just not worth my time. Some developers are so worried about the copy protection and license keys they create a pure hatred for their product! Any now, I’m writing this and wasting more time. Simply put, don’t waste your money or time. Oh yea, the support is non-existent!

I have purchased the app in August, and the system gave me a license number, but did not send an email with such number to keep for my records. In October, I had to re-install my OS, and the app has been wiped out. I re-downloaded it, but the updated version was a trial, which required a license number. The system adised that I should contact the developer, if I do not have the license number. I contacted the developer twice, but received no response. Purchasing this app may be a waste of money because you may need to re-purchase it again. While the app was functioning on my computer, it often failed to write out the shortcuts. I would have to re-type them. I would be OK with the occasional imperfections in the write out, but I am outraged about the lack of technical support, dispite their own recommendations.

Broken. I followed the instructions to use the non-sandboxed version on the website (after purchasing this App Store version). Now it always asks me for a registration code and the app won’t launch. It’s always frustrating when you pay for a piece of software and the developer stops supporting it; at least open source it so it’s possible for other people to continue support after you’ve made something that a lot of people are using.

I downloaded the trial of aText from the dev’s website and it worked like a dream. Instead of purchasing through their site, I decided to purchase the app through the Apple App Store to make my life easier (I tend to do fresh installs a lot). To my surprise, I can not get this version of aText to work.. I type a short cut and I hear the click confirming it worked but no text changes (it is NOT a settings issue). I have resorted to using the trial on the dev’s website since it is a different version that actually functions like it’s supposed to. Please do yourself a favor and DO NOT purchase this app through the Apple App Store. I have read that the dev provides NO support so just purchase something different and don’t waste your money with aText.

Spoke with Apple (iTubes) and emailed Tran twice. No support from the developer and iTiunes relies on the developer for teck support. DO NOT PURCAHSE THIS APP!!! The developer has decided to disappear.

I paid for this app and ran into problems using it. I contacted the developer, who had me download a free trial from his website to get the software to work. I specifically asked him if my license would be okay with the new version, and he said that yes, it would transfer over. Well, now it’s expired and the license will not transfer over. I tried reinstalling it from the app store, and received a message that the license is no longer valid. I’ve tried contacting the developer twice and he is now no longer responding. Bottom line: Don’t buy this. This developer took money for a product, took away the license, and now is not responding.
